The Services enable customers seeking to store data ("Customers") to utilize storage space provided by decentralized storage providers ("Node Operators"). Customers’ data is encrypted and distributed across third-party devices using SILO’s open-source distributed storage software ("Software"). This ensures that neither SILO nor the Node Operators can access the content of the stored data ("Storage Materials").

SILO acts as a service provider/processor of Storage Materials on behalf of its Customers. Individuals whose data is included in Storage Materials are subject to the privacy policies of the Customers using SILO for storage services. For purposes of the European Union ("EU") General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), Customers act as data controllers of the Storage Materials, while SILO acts as the data processor. SILO may act as a data controller for information it collects directly from Customers, Node Operators, and other visitors to its Sites.
